Working collaboratively from home
All aspects of this project were completed while our entire team was working from home during the COVID-19 self-isolation phase in 2020. This meant our initial workshop and discovery phase were done remotely as well.
Meeting with Lee-Marie and Shane on a video call did feel unusual at the time, but it didn’t take us long to start collaborating on ideas and start planning the website.
Moodboard and competitive analysis
Before meeting new clients, I usually like to do a bit of research on their industry and prepare a mood board and competitive analysis.
A competitive analysis helps us to recognise and avoid any overused generic trends and colours used in the industry, while a moodboard is good at conveying a few different design styles we could try on the potential website.
Wireframe Session
Thanks to Invision’s Freehand tool, we were able to roughly wireframe the website structure in a video call with Lee-Marie and Shane. This allowed them to give feedback in real-time, ensuring we were all on the same page before we got stuck into design work.
We’ve found that this process significantly reduces feedback loops and design changes, which means we can invest more time into other aspects of the site like animation flourishes.
Flexible wordpress frontend
Because this is a portfolio website, Lee-Marie and Shane needed a way to easily add new projects and quickly update existing ones.
Our Developers are experts in building flexible custom WordPress frontends. We strive to make every one of our websites easy and intuitive to update and customise.
